Founded in 1971, UniRitter is widely recognized for its law, architecture and design programs. The school serves more than 18,000 students at its Porto Alegre and Canoas campuses in southern Brazil. UniRitter received the highest level of evaluation for university centers in the state of Rio Grande do Sul from both the Ministry of Education and Culture and Guia do Estudante.

UniRitter was recognized by the Ministry of Education as among the top three university centers in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and as No. 1 in the city of Porto Alegre. It is the only university from Porto Alegre to get the highest score in the visit of recognition from the Ministry of Education and received three stars in the evaluation of QS Stars.
UniRitters law, architecture and veterinary medicine programs have also received recognition:
- The law degree program was ranked by Guia do Estudante as one of the three best programs offered by a private institution in Brazil and rated with higher average than national average in the Order of Examination of Lawyers of Brazil in 2015
- The architecture degree program is accredited by Arcosur system, which brings together the best courses in the area in Mercosur.
- The veterinary medicine degree program was recognized as an outstanding course by the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine of RS.
